Floor Care & Maintenance Products

The cleaning and maintenance system that keeps a Bona-finished timber floor looking new between sands. Matched chemistry -- not supermarket cleaners that strip the finish.

Why matched chemistry matters

A freshly coated timber floor is only as good as the care routine that follows it. Generic supermarket floor cleaners contain surfactants, waxes, and solvents that were never tested against polyurethane floor finishes. Some leave a residue film that dulls the sheen over time. Others are alkaline enough to soften the coating surface and accelerate wear. A few contain silicone that makes the floor impossible to recoat when the time comes -- the new finish fisheyes and peels because the silicone contamination cannot be sanded out.

Bona floor care products are formulated to clean polyurethane-finished timber without damaging, dulling, or contaminating the coating. The pH is neutral, the surfactant system rinses clean, and no silicone or wax is present in any product. That means the floor stays looking sharp between sands, and when it eventually needs a maintenance coat or a full resand, the surface is clean and receptive to the new finish.

The range

Bona Spray Mop

The purpose-built mop for Bona-finished timber floors. A refillable cartridge clips into the handle and delivers a fine mist of Bona Timber Floor Cleaner through the spray trigger. The microfibre pad picks up dust and grit without scratching. One pass, no bucket, no wringing, no excess water sitting on the timber. Replacement pads and cleaner cartridge refills are available separately.

Bona Timber Floor Cleaner

The daily cleaner for routine dust mopping and light cleaning. pH neutral, dries fast, leaves no residue. Available in Spray Mop cartridge refills and standalone bottles for manual application. This is the product that goes on the floor every week -- it removes foot traffic grime without touching the polyurethane underneath.

Bona Refresher

A maintenance coating that restores sheen and adds a thin protective layer over the existing finish. Refresher is not a full recoat -- it sits on top of the existing polyurethane and fills the micro-scratches that dull the surface over time. Apply it once or twice a year on high-traffic residential floors to push back the point where a full screen-and-recoat becomes necessary. Clean the floor with Deep Clean first, then apply Refresher with the Spray Mop or a flat applicator.

Bona Deep Clean

The intensive cleaner for periodic deep cleaning. Stronger than the daily cleaner, Deep Clean removes built-up grime, sticky residues, and the kind of ground-in dirt that weekly cleaning misses. Use it before applying Refresher, before a maintenance recoat, or any time the floor needs a thorough clean. Dilute per the label, apply with a mop, and let it work before wiping up.

The maintenance cycle

Weekly: Spray Mop with Bona Timber Floor Cleaner. Quarterly or as needed: Deep Clean for built-up grime. Annually on high-traffic floors: Refresher to restore sheen. Every 5-10 years depending on traffic: professional screen-and-recoat to renew the polyurethane film. Following this cycle extends the life of the finish dramatically and delays the full resand by years.
