Polycure is an established Australian manufacturer (Urethane Coatings Pty Ltd) and WaterKote 1K has a following among contractors who also use the Polycure solvent range. The product comes in Gloss, Satin, and Matt sheens across 4.5-5L packs.

Both are competent 1K water-based finishes for residential timber floors. The practical differences come down to two things: published data and working characteristics.

Bona Mega publishes everything -- wear rating, VOC, recoat time, cure chemistry. That matters when a homeowner asks questions, when the job needs documentation, or when comparing products objectively. The oxygen cross-linking is a genuine technical differentiator: it means the film gets harder over time, unlike a standard 1K where what you see at cure is what you get.

Polycure WaterKote 1K's extended open time is a real advantage in hot, dry conditions. But the lack of published specs -- no wear rating, no VOC number, no documented recoat window -- means contractors are relying on trust and experience rather than verifiable data. That is not a dealbreaker for residential work, but it is a transparency gap.
