Bona Toner Natural
Semi-transparent natural pigment additive. Keep the timber reading raw and hold back the yellow.
What it is
Bona Toner Natural is a water-soluble pigment additive in a pre-measured 100 ml bottle, part of Bona's Additive+ range. It's semi-transparent -- you mix it into a Bona waterborne primer or lacquer to keep the floor looking like raw, freshly-sanded timber and to hold back the amber/yellow pull a clear coat can add. Used with Bona Classic UX primer it replicates the look of the Bona Natural primer.
Why installers use it
- Raw, natural look. The floor keeps that just-sanded, untreated appearance under the topcoat.
- Holds back yellowing. Counters the warm shift clear coats add, on light species especially.
- Replicates Natural primer. Toner Natural + Classic UX = the Bona Natural primer result.
- Semi-transparent. Tonal control while the grain still shows.
Coverage & specs
- Type: water-soluble colour additive, semi-transparent (Bona Additive+ range).
- Pack: 100 ml pre-measured bottle.
- Mixing ratio: 1 bottle (100 ml) per 5 L of primer or lacquer (1:50). Max one bottle per 5 L -- build with extra coats.
- Pairing: Bona Classic UX primer to mimic Natural primer; all Bona lacquers.
- Best topcoat: finish with a matt, extra-matt or ultra-matt lacquer for the truest natural look.
- Shelf life: 2 years unopened. Store and transport between +5°C and +30°C.
How to apply
Sand to bare timber and dust off. Shake the bottle hard for 60 seconds, add one bottle per 5 L and stir. Best in the primer rather than the lacquer. Standard schedule is two primer coats with the toner, then one to two clear lacquer coats -- finish matt for the truest raw look. If you need to abrade to knock back grain raise, do it after the first lacquer coat. Always test on a sample board in the actual species; Toner Natural is a tonal tool, not a dark-to-light change.
Not classified as hazardous under CLP/GHS -- no signal word or pictograms. Contains trace isothiazolinone preservatives and may produce an allergic reaction on sensitive skin. Wear gloves and eye protection, ventilate, and keep out of drains and watercourses.
